Lifecycle of a GiD Licence

  • Once you purchase your licences in the GiD Shop, you will get the instructions in the sections My Orders and by email

  • In the GiD Licence Manager you can find the section My purchases, with the list of all the licences purchased with your account

  • In addition, in the section My licences, you can find a list of the licences assigned to you. The actions you can do to any of these licences are the following ones:

Transfer a licence

Transfer the licence to the final user.

  • This action generates an optional email to the receiving user.

  • If the user still doesn’t have a GiD Account, it will be invited to create one and get the licence.

  • A licence is not transfered until the final user accepts the transfer.

  • The previous owner can cancel the transfer before the new owner accepts it.

Get a password

In order to use the licence in GiD, you will need to transform it to a Password. The final user needs to fill the form. Note that getting a password was done in the website (in the past), and now it is done directly inside the Licence Manager.

Live example

Imagine 2 users: User 1 and User 2

STEP 1 - Purchase

User 1 purchases some licences in the GiD Shop

The licences appear on the sections My Licences and My Purchases of the Licence Manager

STEP 2 - Transfer

Now User 1 wants to transfer one of the licences to User 2. With the ‘Transfer licence’ tool:

Now the User 1 can see that the licence transfer is pending of approval by User 2

User 1 views:

Once the User 2 accepts the transfer

Now, User 1 has can not interact with the licence, but still can list it in “My purchased products” section.

User 2 can now get the password to activate GiD

STEP 3: Get the password

User 2 can get the password for GiD by filling the form

The parameters can be found in the GiD (Menu Help > Register GiD) that is going to be activated:

  • Sysinfo

  • Machine name

Copy the parameters in the form and Submit.

You will see the password that you must enter in the GiD password window above.
